Description Silver neck rings with bird form flanges. The oval shaped neck ring has flanges in the back of the ring that are in the form of a stylized head of a hornbill bird, which have sacred connnotations for the Hmong. The plain front often supported a locket. This example has an incised bird and fish motif on the flange.

Provenance Worn by the Hmong People of northern Laos. These neckrings were an important part of their elaborate costumes and often supported a 'soul locking' pendant.
